TLP Profiles: Travon Smith, Real Estate Agent, DJ, Entrepreneur and Educator

This is the first article in TLP’s new series highlighting entertainment industry professionals. Of course, we all know the biggest stars and their stories, but TLP has decided to dive deep. Learn about movers and shakers who have helped build the careers of the iconic actors, musicians, and artists you know and love.

Travon Smith graduated from Cal State Los Angeles with a degree in Marketing Management. After graduation, 93.5 KDAY-FM in Los Angeles hired Travon as an intern. He worked his way through the ranks at KDay to become both Production Director and Community Director.

Specializing in arrangements, interviews, concert planning, and artist A&R, Travon has worked with some of the radio’s most prominent names like Iconic DJ, Julio G, DJ Skee, DJ Dense, Adrian Scott, Crooked I, and Tray Deee. He also did a project with Dr. Dre’s team.

At Kday-FM, Travon managed a commercial inventory of over 8 million dollars and decided which songs would reach millions of ears. Travon is a true tastemaker, and he is responsible for helping to build the careers of names like Nipsey Hussle, Problem, Jay Rock, Kendrick Lamar, Slim the Mobster, DJ Mustard, RJ, and more.

Travon never lost sight of his roots and developed a way to give back to the community he loves. He utilized his media contacts to help create a real estate program called the Integrity Credit Corporation (ICC). The ICC program targets minorities to help first-time homebuyers gain financial literacy.

After his experience consulting for ICC, Travon realized he had a passion for real estate. He began studying for his real estate license and purchased his first home. He decided his mission was to help others obtain real estate.

Travon says, “I became a real estate agent to help people experience the financial freedom I’ve learned. Coming from living check-to-check as most of us do, I found that real estate teaches an abundance of business education with each transaction.”

Travon decided to start his transition in life and resigned from KDAY-FM. He started a non-profit, WEGOHARDDOTORG LLC, which partners with NFL players, actors, and entertainers to promote financial literacy. But, the airwaves kept calling him back. So, he returned to radio to co-host a show focused on real estate education with celebrity Realtor Tai Savet.

By 2021, Travon acquired his Real Estate License and purchased his second home. Then, he joined Agent’s of LA, a luxury real estate firm that handles celebrity real estate transactions. Travon is partnering with TLP to head up our sports division and develop our podcast.
